Welcome!
The Sophie de Marsac Campau Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 18, 1896, and was named after the wife of Louis Campau, commonly thought of as the founder of the city of Grand Rapids. Our chapter was the second chartered in the state of Michigan and today is among the largest of the 55 Michigan Chapters, with over 170 members currently serving the west Michigan community.
The NSDAR is a non-profit, non=political women’s volunteer service organization that boasts over 190,000 members in 3,000+ chapters across the United States and internationally. Wny woman 18 years or older -regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background-who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is encouraged to apply for membership. The society is dedicated to preserving the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American independence.
NSDAR members volunteer millions of service hours annually in their local communities including supporting active duty military personnel and assisting veterans, awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships and financial aid each year to students and supporting schools for under-served children with annual donations exceeding one million dollars.
